Extreme drummer from Quebec Flo Mournier (played last years Montreal Drum Fest with his band Cryptopsy),

Pat Stewart (Matthew Good's drummer and Vancouver's current #1 session guy for pop/rock -don't know his scope or range though),

In a post , I mention that Dave Langguth is from Newfoundland. That's not correct ! He comes from New Brunswick.

Now living in Toronto, he has just finished a tour with Nelly Furtado and played the Montreal Drum Fest on November 14.

Dominique Messier's main gig is with C?line Dion. He's been with her band for the last 8 years. Dominique plays in the Las Vegas show, and does have a recording studio in Montreal. And you are right... great drummer in just about any style.

I also used to cover many BA songs in several bands throughout the mid/late 80's & 90's, incldg Summer, Cuts Like a Knife, etc, AWA Kids. Fond memories of fun solid pop-rock stuff. Curry AWA Pat were tasty pocket drummers for sure. [If you really wanted to "push the envelope" of your bandmates, depending on where the gig was, you might could pull off some tasty Weckalicious licks in it - just as long as it wasnt TOO overboard! [img]tongue.gif[/img] It's not "the point," I know! Eh, i was young - & eager to "prove" myself "worthy" - of overplaying!!] ;c)

The gtr riff intro to Kids used to stump the other band members as to where the 1 was ["durn 'rockers'" ;cP]. They thought it must be some sort of odd-time lick [technically speaking, i suppose it is], but I humbly [img]redface.gif[/img] informed them that the 2 bar riff started on the & of 1 [img]wink.gif[/img] [ooo, touch me, I'm so gifted [img]graemlins/sure.gif[/img] [img]wink.gif[/img] ]...[depending on how you prefer to count it - quarter, or "half" time - i suppose if you preferred you could also count it in w a 3 count, w the gtr coming in right after the 3 ["1...2...3...," instead of "1-2-3-4-1"]...maybe not "musically-politically-correct ;c)," but it works].

DL Roth from Van Halen's hit "Going Crazy" [when GBiss. & Sheehan were in the band] used to be like this AW. The intro gtr riff [Vai] would start on the & of 1 also - I got into a debate with the lead singer- frontman/gtrst [who owned the band] as to where the 1 was...he had a HUGE ego, so the song didnt get played aft the first practice rehearsal, because he couldnt come in correctly, & he refused to listen to what i had to say. /:c/ & I couldnt understnad how he wanted to come in, as it was incorrect, landing the lick in at the wrong time. He was a talented player/LS-FM, but he'd get hung up on certain little things sometimes. Not that I can sight-read like VC or DW or anything!...but sometimes it's difficult to try to understand how a strictly ear player w no formal training at all rationalizes. Oh, well.

What's that I hear?! The sound of Musician Joke drums looming in the distance?!...[AWA the "smell of maple in the morning"] [img]tongue.gif[/img] ...
